Belluno, longer jobs: the Castion school will be closed again next year

The seismic improvement intervention will be completed in June. Then the go-ahead for the package linked to energy efficiency

BELLUNO. The return to class is postponed for Castion elementary school children. The school is the subject of a double intervention: the seismic improvement and the renovation in terms of energy saving. Precisely this second intervention, decided during construction both for the presence of dedicated funding, and for the declared objective of making the school not only safer but also zero-consumption, involves an extension of the times.

Also for the next school year, therefore, classes from the first to the fifth will be located in other complexes of the city, as is already the case for the current year.

THE MEETING

The news has rebounded in recent days among the parents of the students. A meeting has already been scheduled between the class representatives, the management of the comprehensive Institute and the administration, which will be accompanied by technicians to explain the next steps of the school renewal operation and how the lessons will be organized in the next school year. . The meeting will be held on April 21 and parents of children who will start attending first grade in September are also invited to participate.

THE SEISMIC

The seismic improvement works, financed by the ministry with 815 thousand euros with a tender dedicated to this kind of interventions, began last summer. The students were moved to three schools: the first children attend classes in Badilet, the second and fourth are in the elementary school of Borgo Piave, the third and two-fifths are in the Zanon middle school in Castion. The middle schools had to reorganize the spaces, sacrificing some classrooms for activities to accommodate the children of the elementary school.

ENERGY SAVING

Once the construction site was open, given the need to work on the systems anyway, the Municipality decided to also carry out a package of works on energy saving, to make the school with (almost) zero consumption. An intervention worth over one million euros, financed at 65% (about 700 thousand euros) by the thermal account, which involves the refurbishment of the roof, the insulation of the internal cladding walls and the basement, the renewal of the windows, installation a new radiated ceiling heating system, an attic volume heating system, the construction of false ceilings on the first and second floors, the replacement of the heat generator and the construction of a new heat pump system, the installation of a system for controlled mechanical ventilation, the renovation of the bathrooms, the plumbing, the installation of a LED lighting system, the complete renovation of the electrical system and a 15 kW photovoltaic system integrated into the roof.

The systems still had to be redone, given the demolitions made inside the school for the seismic improvement intervention, it was decided to take a step further, defining a pilot project that could then be used for other buildings in the city.

TIMES

The works on the seismic will finish in June. In the meantime, the Municipality will work on the design of the package of interventions on energy saving. Works that will take a few months longer than the first bell, and therefore in September the classrooms will not be able to accommodate young students.

In the meeting scheduled for April 21, parents will be shown all the details and also how the next school year will be organized, because elementary school children will have to be hosted in other complexes for some time, to allow companies to renovate their school.
