From 1 September, barring last-minute extensions, the broadcasting standard of the television signal will change throughout Italy, passing from the current digital terrestrial to the DVB-T2 standard. To understand if the home screen is enabled, some technical checks are necessary, but in principle if the device is only three years old, i.e. it was bought before December 22, 2018, it is likely not adequate: it must be replaced or updated with a decoder. The news does not concern streaming and satellite subscriptions.
It is difficult to calculate exactly the number of devices to be changed: a first estimate by the Bordoni Foundation counted over 20 million, others stop at 10 million, also because it is not certain that they are all scrapped.
I bonus
The government has put in place two incentives: the first, reserved for families with Isee under 20 thousand euros, worth 50 euros is already operational; the other, for all without ISEE, is valid until December 31, 2022, unless the 250 million allocated early is exhausted. The new bonus (called “scrapping” because it is linked to the delivery of the old TV) is equal to 20% of the purchase of the TV, with a ceiling of one hundred euros. The two instruments can be combined, up to a maximum of 130 euros.
