Prime Minister Mario Draghi wasted no time. As soon as the ballots for the administrative elections ended, the premier summoned the delegations of the parties to Palazzo Chigi in view of the control room and the council of ministers of tomorrow on the Dpb: the Draft Budgetary Plan, which EU member countries must send to the European Commission. According to Ansa, the meetings of the individual Heads of Delegation accompanied by party economic leaders would take place with the staff of Palazzo Chigi and with the Minister of Economy Daniele Franco and not with the Prime Minister.
In detail, this is the budget planning document that defines the architecture of the maneuver, but does not go into the details of all the measures and the relative coverage, but establishes the main measures and their cost.
The maneuver should, on the other hand, be examined at a subsequent meeting, perhaps at the end of the week, upon the return of Prime Minister Mario Draghi from the European Council, and after the meeting with the social partners. The budget law starts from a base of 22 billion guaranteed by the extra deficit, or by the difference between the indebtedness at a trend level (therefore with unchanged policies) which according to government estimates will reduce to 4.4% next year against a programmatic debt set at 5.6% of GDP. There are four issues that the government will have to face: citizenship income, pensions, tax wedge cuts and social safety nets reform. In Nadef, the government undertook to initiate the first phase of the reform of the personal income tax and social safety nets and to implement the single universal allowance.
No comment has leaked from Palazzo Chigi, but the premier’s motto has not changed: “The government goes ahead, because it cannot follow the electoral calendar”, but the one “negotiated with the European Commission for the PNRR and for the recommendations that have been given by the Commission to Italy “.
