Everything will be done safely, only the Sunday prize will be missing

CALUSO. Obligation of a Green pass to access the events in the Spurgazzi park, a ban on dancing, and a strict security plan to enforce the rules of distancing. These are the pillars on which the Erbaluce di Caluso grape festival is based, scheduled from Thursday 16th to Sunday 19th September.

The 88th edition, as indeed happens for all the other Canavese events, arrives in time of Covid, with all the well-known problems. In compliance with the rules, the pro loco, the Municipality and the regional Enoteca, which is responsible for the organization, guarantee the return to a genuine popular festival, in the name of traditions, and the enhancement of Erbaluce wines, spread over four days. “Only the Sunday afternoon palio will be missing – anticipates the vice president of the pro loco, Marco Banchio – but thanks to the collaboration of the districts and hamlets we are able to put back in the program the costume parade with the floats praising the harvest on Sunday, and the evening of the “veje piole”, on Saturday evening. The piole, however, should not be organized inside warehouses, but outdoors, as a street food model. A tensile structure with limited seating will be set up in the shade of the centuries-old trees in the Spurgazzi park. Here will be held dinners for tastings of Erbaluce wines and typical products, the presentation of sports associations, on Thursday evening, the dinner of the districts and hamlets on Friday evening. At three evenings, from Thursday to Saturday, entertainment shows will be set up with a ban on dancing ».

Sunday will open in the morning with institutional and iconic appointments: the election of the Nymph Albaluce, on which the order of nymphs is working, the awarding of the Grappolo d’oro wine competition, reserved for producers of Erbaluce, in the still types, sparkling wine and passito, curated by the regional wine cellar of the province of Turin. Moments, which as in the previous edition will be held on the stage set up in the Spurgazzi park, as Palazzo Ubertini does not have the adequate spaces to accommodate the participants and the public. The rendezvous dedicated to the promotion of Erbaluce will remain in the context of DiVino Canavese, the review of wines and local products to be held on Sundays in the cloister of the former convent, with limited and paid admissions.

The departure of the folkloric parade will be at 4 pm, in order to allow the replication of the veje piole, even on Sunday for lunch. The safety and evacuation plan, entrusted to the surveyor Claudio Succio, will follow that of past editions, with the access gates to the town, the electronic people counter to record arrivals in the historic center and the escape routes monitored by civil protection, with the coordination of the local police. “However, the participation of the public will be even lower than in previous years – inquisitive Banchio – to avoid gatherings”. The details of the program will be released in the next few days. Lydia MASSIA
