The Yopal Mayor’s Office achieved a significant increase of 500 new rations to ensure school feeding for 4-year-old students who are beginning their education in kindergarten, recently implemented in the city’s official educational institutions. This increase raised the number of students benefiting from the PAE in Yopal from 14,300 to 14,800.
The news was shared during the First Public Table of the PAE of 2024, in which representatives of the Management of the Comptroller General of the Republic in Casanare, the Casanare Regional Attorney’s Office, the Person’s Office, teachers, rectors, students, observers and food handlers from the educational institutions of Yopal.
It is crucial to ensure school feeding at this initial stage of education, as it provides approximately 30% of the daily nutrient requirements that a child must consume each day. A well-nourished student is better able to achieve optimal academic performance.
David Díaz Sánchez, Secretary of Education of Yopal, highlighted that although the current contract ends on June 6, the administrative procedures are being advanced to ensure an additional one with surplus resources available in the administration. This additional will cover the service until mid-August, thus guaranteeing the continuity of the program.
The contractor
Contract 2314-2023 was awarded to the PAE Yopal 2024 Consortium, with the objective: “Provide the school feeding service to targeted students of the official educational institutions of the municipality of Yopal Casanare.”
From the Yopal Education Secretariat, a work team was also formed with professionals in the technical, administrative, legal, financial and social components; Likewise, a team of food engineers and field support technicians was formed to carry out monitoring and verification activities of the provision of the service in order to guarantee the quality and safety of the food served to the beneficiary students focused on each one. of educational institutions.
