From the judges “obvious invasion of the field”. And the movement proposes to ask for the intervention of the President of the Republic
The ruling of the Court of Auditors on public funding for the Casino of Saint-Vincent “constitutes a serious precedent, which undermines the political role of anyone elected in a representative assembly, at any level”. This was stated by the Stella Alpina movement commenting on the convictions of 18 politicians and former politicians by the Third Central Section of Appeal.
“For the first time in Italy – says Stella Alpina -, a judge enters into the merits of a political choice adopted by an entire regional majority, on an expressly political mandate and moreover supported by technical opinions whose legitimacy has never been contested, nor by the regional prosecutor’s office in the first instance trial nor by the general prosecutor’s office in second instance ».
With the vote on funding for the Casino, councilors and councilors “decided to assume their responsibilities inextricably linked to the elective mandate,” argues the political movement.
“On the merits of the sentence, there would be many things to say starting from the not secondary fact that the Aosta Valley gambling house is still operational, between contradictions and omissions, but what we most want to underline now, in our opinion, is the obvious invasion of the field operated by the judges, which is why we will propose to the Regional Council to take action also with the President of the Republic as Head of State and guarantor of the Constitution and, therefore, also of our special Statute ”, concludes Stella Alpina.
