CASTIADAS. A thirty-three-year-old worker from Sestu, with previous charges against him, was denounced on the loose by the forestry and environmental surveillance agents of the Cagliari inspectorate. The man was surprised in the “Rio Geremeas” area, on the slopes of the Sette Fratelli massif, during a night patrol service, by the rangers of the Castiadas and Sinnai stations while he was stationed with a loaded rifle near a pile of almonds that he had previously put to attract wild boars.
The poacher fled to the sight of the foresters but was intercepted shortly after at his home in Sestu where a forestry patrol was waiting for him. The agents found in his home in addition to the weapon used in the staging, two other rifles, legally detained but prepared for night hunting and various tools for birding (15 nets and several dozen snap traps).
The poacher who did not have a rifle-carrying license was reported for hunting offenses, which include a penalty of up to 1 year in prison, as well as for the crime of illegal carrying of a weapon. The foresters are investigating to identify the accomplices who helped him escape and accompanied him to Sestu. Gian Carlo Bulla
