Castion, leaves his job in a nursing home, “at 50 I launch into tourism”

CASTION. Raised in the world of ice cream parlors in Germany, therefore with a very workaholic idea of ​​work, Adriana Campo Bagatin worked as an operator in a retirement home for 25 years. Then, five years ago, the decision to change his life. Her choice was dictated by the desire to devote herself to a passion derived from the great desire to travel. She has opened a tourist rental in Castion, but she does not stop: she intends to open another in the center of Belluno.

Adriana decided to change her life at the age of 50: “If you don’t make these choices when you are still old enough to do so, then it becomes too late,” she tells us. «I have always been a great traveler, being among my peers gives me great pleasure. Having traveled a lot, I thought I could have a particular sensitivity and attention to some aspects related to hospitality. And so I ventured into this adventure ».

Five years ago he set up a house in Castion which he inherited from some relatives. And so Casa De Bati was born, an apartment dedicated to welcoming tourists who want to visit the province of Belluno. “In recent years, tourists of all nationalities have come to my home: from New Zealanders to Israelis, from Germans to French, but also Americans. They greatly appreciate the nature, the silences, the colors of our territory. Many of us go as far as Japan during the spring to see the cherry trees in bloom, but we have colors, scents and much more on our doorstep ».

Entering the world of tourism made Adriana appreciate the territory in which she lives even more. «I believe that there is still a long way to go in the field of tourism in our province, starting with the enhancement of the food and wine aspects. But only if we manage to team up with each other can we guarantee tourists a welcome and an important tourist offer. For example », continues Campo Bagatin,« when someone books my accommodation, I also send information material on what there is to see and do in our area. And I believe that this attention to tourists is very much appreciated ».

Castion’s business is doing well and therefore Adriana has decided to invest in this sector, which she had bet on. “I’m arranging some lodgings in via Garibaldi. There are three apartments with four beds each. I have just started and there is a lot to do. However, I believe that via Garibaldi is a very beautiful and quiet street, also representative of the grace and refinement of the history of Belluno. The only flaw is that in order to park a car you need to go a few meters further. But I believe that this does not limit the desire of the tourists who come here anyway ».

Adriana Campo Bagatin will open this new tourist location between the end of this year and the beginning of the next «if everything goes as it should. With this new activity I rediscovered things and aspects of myself that I had put aside while I was working. And it was a nice discovery ».
