Reporter: July 1st will usher in the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China. I understand that China will solemnly celebrate this important historical moment. Do you think the Chinese Communist Party has gone through a century of history and developed into a big party with more than 91 million members. It still maintains vigor and vitality. What is the main reason behind it?
Agent Yao:General Secretary Xi Jinping pointed out that “As the largest political party in the world, the Communist Party of China must be big.” This is not only reflected in the number of party members and the scale of the organization, but also in the party’s nature and purpose, ideals and beliefs, will and quality, spiritual realm, and mindset. Over the past 100 years, the Communist Party of China has grown from a small party with less than 60 members to the largest party in the world with more than 91 million members today. It has led the Chinese people to achieve a great leap from standing up, getting rich to becoming strong, and creating The “Chinese miracle” that amazed the world. I think this is not accidental, but the result of the Chinese Communist Party’s forever keeping its original intentions and fulfilling its mission.
First, the original intention of serving the people remains unchanged. From the very beginning of its establishment, the Communist Party of China has taken the happiness of the Chinese people and the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation as its eternal original aspiration. Whether it was the past revolution, construction, and reform periods, or the current epidemic prevention and control, and the fight against poverty, the Chinese Communist Party has always insisted on doing everything for the people and standing firmly with the people. Agent Yao:Chinese people often say: “Without the Communist Party of China, there would be no New China.” Since the founding of the People’s Republic of China for 70 years, great historical changes have taken place in the land of China. The country has changed from closed and backward to openness and progress, and people’s lives have moved from insufficient food and clothing to an all-round well-off. The decisive factor in economic construction from “one poor and two white” to prosperity is the leadership of the Communist Party of China. The Communist Party of China has always insisted on putting the people at the center, coming from the people, rooting in the people, serving the people, representing the fundamental interests of the overwhelming majority of the people, and winning the heartfelt and firm support of the overwhelming majority of the people. Reporter: Data from many well-known international polling agencies show that the Chinese people’s support for the Chinese government remains high. Why do Chinese people trust the government so much? Does this have anything to do with the CPC as the ruling party?
Agent Yao:I think it is most appropriate to describe the relationship between the Communist Party of China and the Chinese people as “fish and water”. The fundamental purpose of the Communist Party of China is to serve the people wholeheartedly, and always insist on breathing with the people, sharing destiny, and connecting hearts. Over the past century since its establishment, the party has stood up amidst internal and external troubles of the Chinese nation, worked hard to start a business when new China was a waste of time, and acted courageously when the reform and development experienced ups and downs, in order to let the Chinese people live a good life. There is a Chinese saying, “Golden cups and silver cups are not as good as the common people’s reputation.” During the Revolutionary War in the past, the Chinese Communist Party members had a quilt themselves, and they had to cut out half of the quilt and leave it to the common people. In today’s modernization period, countless party members are at the forefront, fighting against the epidemic and fighting poverty regardless of personal safety and personal gains and losses, and do their utmost to protect the lives, health, interests and well-being of the people. It is precisely because the Communist Party of China insists on putting the people at heart and constantly using practical actions to enhance the people’s sense of gain, happiness, and security, that the Chinese people truly support the Communist Party of China and trust the government under the leadership of the Communist Party of China. Reporter: I noticed that China has formulated the “14th Five-Year Plan” and proposed to build a modern socialist country in an all-round way. How will these new goals change China? What will it mean for the rest of the world?
Agent Yao:Thank you for your continued attention to China’s development. In my opinion, the important significance of the “14th Five-Year Plan” is mainly reflected in the following four “news”: First, it has entered a new stage of development. China will embark on a new journey of building a socialist modern country in an all-round way, which is a milestone in China’s development process; the second is to implement the new development concept. The “14th Five-Year Plan” is a longer period to come. China’s economic and social development will focus on promoting high-quality development, and pay more attention to innovation, coordination, greenness, openness, and sharing concepts, so that development results can better benefit all people; The new development pattern in which the domestic big cycle is the main body and the domestic and international double cycles promote each other, makes the domestic cycle and the international cycle mutually promote and complement each other; the fourth is to clarify the new development requirements, that is, to make all the people’s common prosperity achieve more obvious substantive progress as a measure The long-term goal is to continuously enhance the people’s sense of gain, happiness, and security.
It needs to be pointed out that China has proposed a new development pattern of “dual cycles”, which is an active choice to adapt to the changes in the stage of China’s economic development and to respond to changes in the complex international environment. Taking the domestic big cycle as the main body is definitely not a closed door to close the operation or reduce the connection with the world economy, but an open and mutually promoting domestic and international double cycle. China’s economy has been deeply integrated into the world economy, and it is impossible to develop well behind closed doors. President Xi Jinping said, “A good world can make China good. A good China makes the world better!” As the world‘s second largest economy and the largest developing country, China has consistently ranked first in its contribution to world economic growth for many years. It is believed that with the implementation of the “14th Five-Year Plan”, China’s economic structure will continue to be optimized. China will inject new vitality into the world economy and bring broader development opportunities to countries in the world, including Poland.
Reporter: Western media now have different voices and interpretations of China’s foreign policy. There are many accusations such as “wolf diplomacy” and “vaccine diplomacy”. What do you think of this? Does China really intend to compete with the United States for world dominance?
Agent Yao:Labeling us “War Wolf Diplomacy” is a misunderstanding of China’s diplomacy. China has always pursued an independent foreign policy of peace. Being aggressive has never been our diplomatic tradition, but it is not the integrity of the Chinese to bow down. Others came to our door to show off their power, interfere in our housework, and verbally slander us. We have nowhere to go. We have to stand up to defend ourselves and firmly defend our national interests and dignity. Obviously, the “wolf war diplomacy” is actually another version of the “China Threat Theory” and another “discourse trap”. The purpose is to make us fail to fight back, curse, and give up resistance.
Regarding your mention of “vaccine diplomacy,” some people questioned that China wanted to use vaccine exports to expand its geopolitical influence. This argument is very narrow. China has always adhered to the first attribute of vaccines as public products, and took the lead in promising vaccine research and development as a global public product, striving to improve the availability and affordability of vaccines in developing countries. This is what China says, and it does so. So far, China has provided more than 350 million doses of vaccine to the international community, including vaccine assistance to more than 80 countries and export of vaccines to more than 40 countries.
The Chinese civilization regards peace as the most important thing, helps the world at the same time, and is committed to realizing good-neighborly friendship and peace in the world. In history, China has made seven voyages to the Western Oceans, but it has never bullied the weak and occupied an inch of land in other countries. Instead, it has sowed the seeds of peace and friendship along the way. There is no gene in the blood of the Chinese to rule kings and hegemony and to be aggressive. In modern times, the Chinese people have become more aware of the preciousness of peace after experiencing the deep sufferings of frequent wars and lack of livelihood for the people. Looking back on China’s industrialization process in just a few decades, it can be found that China has not followed the old path of some countries relying on aggression and expansion to achieve their rise. Instead, China has broken the traditional model of “a strong country must hegemony” and is committed to exploring a peaceful way to achieve it. The new path of national development and national rejuvenation provides mankind with a new choice to modernize.
Regarding Sino-US relations, State Councilor and Minister of Foreign Affairs Wang Yi pointed out that the differences or contradictions between China and the United States are not power, status, or social system disputes, but insist on multilateralism or unilateralism. Win-win cooperation is still a zero-sum game. As a world power, the United States should adopt an inclusive attitude towards the development of other countries, and it should also realize that the people of other countries have the same right to live a good life as the American people.
