Col Melon road safely, now it’s the turn of the Pisoton waterfall

Civil protection Ana has removed the dangerous plants. At the Triveneta exercise the path will be arranged

PEDAVENA. A morning of intense work to secure the Col Melon road above the Santa Susanna hairpin, cutting down the unstable trees that threatened to fall on the carriageway and at the same time running in equipment and emergency intervention procedures.

Volunteers and volunteers of the Ana di Pedavena civil protection team spent their Sunday in this way, with the exercise which – in agreement with the municipal administration – was once again an opportunity to fix a critical issue in the territory. Also triggering a virtuous circle, given that the volunteers working in the municipal area were joined by a private individual who arranged another section.

“We are very satisfied with the success of the intervention,” explains Donato Zuglian, head of the Pedavenese civil protection team, who led the dozen orange overalls present yesterday morning. The team has a total of 25, active for forest fire fighting and for hydrogeological defense interventions such as cleaning the riverbeds. And now that the local exercise is closed, we look to the next sectional initiative.

“In April the Ana section of Feltre will host the Triveneta exercise and in Pedavena we will have two construction sites”, Zuglian points out. “One will be at the bridge over the Remuglia, at the Pisoton waterfall, for the restoration of the collapsed path and the cleaning of the stream. A place that many Pedavenese have known as children, with school visits: we count on the fact that by arranging the site, interest in this place will return. The second construction site will instead be along the Rio Musil, which runs alongside the Mugnai-Pedavena cycle path for a while. We will clean the banks and free them from the dry plants alongside the watercourse ».

A commitment in the area that Ana di Pedavena civil protection supports with that for the promotion of safety issues. «The pandemic has stopped the activities we were doing in schools», explains Zuglian, «but in the summer we collaborated with the parish to raise awareness among the children of Grest. An important action looking to the future, to give children a first smattering of civil protection issues “.

“I can only thank the group because also this year, in collaboration with the administration, it has completed an important intervention for the community in Col Melon”, explains the mayor Nicola Castellaz at the end of the works. «But I also have to thank them for never stopping during the pandemic, helping us in various sectors – from the distribution of masks to that of shopping vouchers – and continuing the exercises in the area. They made two in 2021 and in April they will do the second in 2022 with the Triveneta one, in particular with the redevelopment of the Pisoton path which represents a traditional place in the memories of the Pedavenese ”.

A commitment which, Castellaz underlined, “teaches that real power is service”.
