The condition of the officer who was seriously injured during a search in Lodelinsart on Monday morning remains worrying. His chances of survival are more reassuring than yesterday, but we must remain cautious. The Charleroi public prosecutor’s office has announced this.

During the search, a 36-year-old member of the special units of the federal police was killed. The suspect opened fire on the officers as they searched his home. The shooter also died. In addition to the seriously injured officer, another member of the special unit was also injured. The latter is not in mortal danger.

Despite the death of the perpetrator, the Charleroi public prosecutor’s office has launched an investigation into the manslaughter of a police officer and the attempted manslaughter of two of his colleagues. The public prosecutor wants to find out exactly what happened.

When asked whether a tribute would be organized for the deceased police officer, the federal police responded that it was still too early to communicate about this.
