TREVISO. He had been ill for some time, the other night he passed away in a hospital bed, surrounded by family members.
He was 71 years old, Fabio Biasuzzi. King of gravel and hippodromi, exponent of a dinasty who was the pioneer in the Marca in mining activities – the company dates back to 1900, founded by his grandfather Sante with carts, then developed by Giuseppe, father of Fabio and Maurizio – but also construction and of streets, of the sightseeing, of the racecourses and horse racing.
And then the banks, construction and projects real estate, the finance and credit, up to the vice-presidency of Banca Treviso when Tiziano Zanatta was at the helm. Finally, the commitment of the category, up to holding the position of national president of cement entrepreneurs.
It was all behind Biasuzzi now. Almost. He had sold the shares of his beloved racecourse, because he no longer liked horse racing as he used to; he had sold the quarries to the Grigolin group, after having regularized all positions; and he had been acquitted of all charges in a judicial mishap, where he had admitted that he had violated the law because he was forced by the crisis.
He just wanted, after nearly 5 roaring decades, to enjoy one well-deserved retirement, having entrusted the reins of the two tourist villages to his children, the San Francesco in Caorle and the Bivillage in Fažana di Pola, Croatia.
But the tumor has arrived, the very delicate intervention, and the new fatal attack of evil.

From quarries to waste, Biasuzzi, together with his associates and competitors Carron, Andreola and Guidolin, had traced the way when they founded the Geonova which would have reconverted the abandoned sites north of the resurgence line (strategic axis was the Roman Postumia) to create a business on the business, with the management of landfills 2 / B for hazardous non-toxic special waste. Then the great began clash with environmentalists, while politically the Berninian Region took away competences from the Innocentian Province.
“It was one of his worries”, says those close to him, “He believed in the enterprise that was used for development, and provided the raw material for the infrastructure, he did not understand why he became the target of so many attacks when the gravel and the quarry, indispensable, they had contributed to the development of the Northeast and had spread well-being in the communities of the area ».
His was there Morganella, in Ponzano with a small extension to Paese, the largest quarry in Europe, today at the center of the game of the further excavations below skirt: and there, in front of the quarry, was the headquarters of the gravel parent company, a sector that had been sold en bloc to the Grigolins for two years.
In the 80’s, with his partner Franco Fraccari, he had relaunched the racecourse of Sant’Artemio to Treviso, transforming a provincial reality into a top-level plant in Italy and Europe. And the Sant’Artemio piene was certainly one of the manifestos della Treviso to drink from the 80s and 90s.
And from 2002 to 2018 he was president of the Northeast racecourses (with Treviso there were Trieste and Ferrara), consolidating its position as leadership on a national scale and defending companies and plants from the deep crisis in the sector. But after nearly 40 years, he had given up, giving in the shares in Bovio, Baroncini and other minority shareholders.
He had graduated in Economics and Commerce, and had picked up the baton from his father Giuseppe for the quarries, while his twin Maurizio called Mauro would have followed the roads (the “concrete”) and horse racing, with the famous “Gina Biasuzzi” stables, that they even saw the kidnapping of Equinox Bi, champion horse of the tracks.
Fabio had the cult of work and of family, the two totems of his life. Another great passion of his, after the racecourses, was boating – his boat was for decades one of most prominent along the Adriatic – football and cycling, but he also loved animals. His celebrations are memorable, including the one for the birth of his son Giuseppe and the one for his 18th birthday, but also the events organized at the racecourse that he had wanted, pioneeringly, multifunctional, open to events not only horse racing.
Biasuzzi leaves his wife Laura, an exponent of another dynasty in the mining sector, his children Beatrice, Caterina and Giuseppe, his brother Maurizio, his mother Gina, his sister-in-law Marina. Farewell on Monday in the Duomo, at 3.30 pm. Camera ardete at the Ca ‘Foncello morgue, from 2.30pm.
