On June 28, 2021, Consul-General Li Yigang in Willemstad participated in a symposium to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China organized by the Curaçao Overseas Chinese Association and the Association for the Promotion of Peaceful Reunification via video, and delivered a keynote speech.
Consul General Li said that looking back at history, the Communist Party of China has developed into the world‘s largest Marxist ruling party with nearly 92 million members, having been in power in the largest socialist country for more than 70 years, having gone through a century of glorious history. The party united and led the people, and through tenacious struggle, the Chinese nation made a great leap from standing up, getting rich, and getting stronger. After modern times, China was reduced to a semi-colonial and semi-feudal society. The Chinese Communists, with Comrade Mao Zedong as the main representative, combined the basic principles of Marxism with the concrete practice of the Chinese revolution, created Mao Zedong Thought, united and led the people through bloody battles and seized new democracy. The victory of the socialist revolution established New China and led the people of all ethnic groups to complete the socialist revolution and promote socialist construction, laying the institutional foundation for China’s development and progress. After the Third Plenary Session of the Eleventh Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, the communists with Comrade Deng Xiaoping as the main representative summed up the experience of socialist construction and founded Deng Xiaoping Theory, making the historic significance of shifting the focus of party and state work to economic construction and implementing reform and opening up. Li pointed out that since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, the Chinese Communists, with Comrade Xi Jinping as the main representative, have united and led the entire party and the people of all ethnic groups in the country, and systematically answered what socialism with Chinese characteristics should be maintained and developed in the new era, and how to persist and develop.
