Conte confirms the line of the M5S on Ukraine: “With three supplies of armaments to Kiev, Italy has already given, now diplomacy”

«We have concluded the work of the National Council» of the 5 Star Movement, after «an extensive discussion on the current situation. We confirm our assessment: with three supplies of armaments Italy has already given, and now a new phase must open in which our country must be at the forefront to push for a negotiation to put an end to this war ». The leader of the M5S Giuseppe Conte does not back down and on the sidelines of the conference “Interconnection and intermodality for the sustainable development of transport networks”, organized by the Five Stars in the Senate, pulls straight ahead and does not take a step back. “The confrontation with the premier in Parliament is not to weaken the government, on the contrary – Conte points out -: it is to strengthen his mandate in all international fora and make the voice of the Italian government heard, strengthened by the line shared with the Parliament”.
On the war in Ukraine and the possibility of a negotiation leading to an end to the conflict, Conte reiterates that «we are confident of being able to share this line of maximum concentration on diplomatic efforts with the government. It means sharing a line between government and parliament in order to make the government stronger ». A war whose end is not in sight «our citizens, Italians, Europeans and beyond – remarked Conte – cannot afford it because a very serious recession would arrive that would aggravate the situation we are experiencing even more. We have 10 million poor people in Italy, we have 12-13% of workers below the poverty line and who have nothing to survive at the end of the month ».
