Zaia’s announcement. The Region has an expense of five million

CORTINA. The Minister of Economy, Daniele Franco, gave the green light to the financing of the bobsleigh run, Olympic and Paralympic, in Cortina. «Tonight the amendment passed, I thank Minister Franco who gave a favorable opinion. The load of the Region, if it goes wrong, will be only 5 million euros “, announced the president of the Veneto Region, Luca Zaia, presenting the track project in Venice together with the president of FederBob and skeleton, Ivo Ferriani. Zaia recalled that the track – smaller than that of 1956, but “today reduced to a landfill, an excellent corpse”, in any case to be reclaimed – will also be used for skeleton and sledding activities and that after the Games it will also be used for the taxi bob.

The president also asked that the Paralympic bobsleigh discipline be included among those of the 2026 Games. «The project will have a very low environmental impact and completely accessible. – said the president of FederBob and skeleton, Ivo Ferriani – As a federation, I want a center of excellence to be created there, in which to train Olympic and Paralympic athletes, even for a second career. We will use the same route as before, integrating and modernizing it ». Ferriani anticipated that, as regards the legacy, Cortina will have the bobsleigh world cup in 2027 and the world championships the following year. Zaia also ensured the restoration of the diving board, “which will cost 15-20 million euros: we will build an amphitheater for the awards which will then remain with the population, and the Olympic village”.
