Couple rescues man from sinking car, while the fire brigade watches: “We are only allowed in the water up to our waists”

A couple rescued a man from a sinking car in Britain. It is striking that the fire brigade was watching the incident, but they could not do anything because they were only allowed to go into the water “up to their waists”.

There are currently severe floods in several parts of Britain. The water is up to 1.20 meters high in some places. As a result, many roads are impassable. This driving instructor in Ingatestone, Great Britain, also knew this. He got stuck in the water with his driving school car.

When the firefighters arrived, there was nothing they could do but watch. The reason for this is because they are only allowed to go into the water “up to their waist”. They are only trained for low water levels and are not allowed to go into deep water according to safety regulations. To free the man from the dire situation, a special team had to be called in with firefighters who were allowed to go deeper into the water.

Meanwhile, filmmaker Jamie Price and his partner were also watching. Price couldn’t believe the firefighters didn’t do anything. He then took the initiative with his partner and went into the water towards the car. His YouTube channel shows him getting into the water and opening the car door. The man then gets out of the car and Price and his partner help take the driving instructor to a dry place.

The man trapped in the car appears visibly shaken in the video. Price also confirmed this to Daily Mail: “When I got him out of the car, he was dazed and not thinking straight. That’s how I knew he was in shock.” The filmmaker understood that the firefighters were not allowed to do anything, but he said he could not wait for the specialized team to arrive because he thought the man would die.

“As a citizen, I don’t have the same rules as the firefighters. The risk assessment was not important to me. The man’s life outweighed all other risks for me,” Price told the Daily Mail.
