On the 5th, the Democratic Party of Korea finally selected five candidates for Seoul’s Seodaemun District, including Ji-woong Kwon, head of the lease fraud reception center, Gyu-hyun Kim, former prosecutor of the Seoul Northern District Prosecutors’ Office, Dong-ha Kim, lawyer at Pacific Law Firm, Chi-hoon Seong, former Blue House administrator, and Soo-min Jeon, full-time deputy spokesperson for the Democratic Party.

Ahn Gyu-baek, Chairman of the Democratic Party’s Strategic Nomination Committee, held a briefing at the Democratic Party’s central party headquarters this afternoon and conducted document screening and interviews of applicants for the Seodaemun-gu Gap in Seoul to select candidates for the open audition. Previously, on the 26th of last month, the Democratic Party designated Seodaemun-gu, Seoul, where Rep. Woo Sang-ho, an active member of the constituency, declared that he would not run, as a ‘youth strategic special zone’ where young people under the age of 45 compete.

The contest was held for a week from the 27th of last month to the 4th of this month, and a total of 14 candidates, including 9 men and 5 women, applied.

The Democratic Party plans to hold an open audition for candidates in Seodaemun-gu, Seoul through the YouTube channel ‘Delhi Democratic Party’ at 2pm on the 7th. Afterwards, after deliberation by the Strategic Nomination Committee, it was decided to announce three candidates for the primary and confirm the candidates for the primary through a resolution at the highest level.

For these candidates, mobile voting will be held by Democratic Party rights party members for two days from the 9th to the 10th, and safe ARS voting for voters in Seodaemun-gu, Seoul will be held for one day on the 10th. Afterwards, the final candidates will be selected and announced, reflecting 70% of the votes of the Rights Party members and 30% of the votes of Seodaemun Gap voters.
