With these words, in a dialogue full of humanity and understanding, a policeman managed to save a desperate father who was about to commit suicide by throwing himself into a river in Padua. In the end, the man, a 39-year-old Tunisian father of 3 children, gave up: the officer managed to grab him by the hand, and together with a colleague on patrol brought him to the embankment, to safety.
It was an acquaintance who warned 113, saying he was certain that his friend wanted to end it, overwhelmed by the economic problems that prevented him from supporting his family. The headquarters of the Padua Police Headquarters, although not in possession of the number, managed to reach the 39-year-old’s telephone number, contacted him, keeping him ‘attached’ to the call until the patrol arrived on the spot.
The agent Michele focused on the responsibility of the Tunisian’s father: “… he does not prove to be a father only by working …” and the other replied: “I have always fought, I have always worked for them … “; “Yes, but when a child grows up, he learns that his father has made an extreme gesture, he is in a very difficult situation”. “There are situations in which one must not let go.
