Participation is positive
Victoria Blocksdorf founded the Blockblocks CleanUp organization in Düsseldorf six years ago – with the aim of cleaning up her city and especially the Rhine and the waters. She has been working with the DUC divers for two years.
“Diving into the middle of Düsseldorf’s magnificent shopping mile and collecting garbage that others don’t even see or notice – a special effort with which we can hopefully open the eyes of many.” Victoria Blocksdorf, founder of Blockblocks CleanUp
Victoria Blocksdorf and the organizers of Pro Düsseldorf eV are more than satisfied with a good 12,500 participants, most of whom were children and young people. Many have been out all week. The 22 tons of garbage collected are slightly less than last year. But the work is immensely important, said a spokesman for the organizers. Dirt-Away Day was also held in other places in North Rhine-Westphalia on Saturday.
Picking up and disposing of small things like cigarette butts is extremely important. And anyone who took part in the Dirt Away Day as a child will deal with the issue of rubbish completely differently in the future.
