The Ecuadorian team obtained a resounding victory by beating Colombia 3-0, at the Brígido Iriarte stadium in Caracas.
The match unfolded as a balanced clash in several sections, maintaining tension between both teams. However, the outcome of the match was decided in the last 20 minutes, when Ecuador, in a demonstration of determination, managed to score three goals that secured the first 3 points in Group A of the tournament.
The architects of this victory were Yaimar Medina and Cristhoper Zambrano. Medina, with a double at minutes 71 and 88, emerged as a prominent figure on the field, while Zambrano contributed with another crucial goal in the 86th minute.
