On December 22, the 11-year-old minor presented symptoms of fever, headache, stomach pain, bruises on the body and weakness, so he was immediately admitted to the San Rafael Hospital in San Juan del Cesar where the body The doctor, after carrying out studies, began to suspect the possible prognosis of leukemia, news that was only confirmed until his arrival in Valledupar.

On December 23, Envito, as he is affectionately called, was referred to the Medical Clinic in the capital of Cesar, to be treated by a specialist who could verify the suspicion of blood cancer that he already had, an opinion that was verified acute nature, so the minor had to be treated quickly to avoid complications.

Once the sad news was known, Elizabeth Fernández, mother of the minor, who has health problems, after understanding and accepting the diagnosis, proceeded to explain the situation to the little boy so that he would be strong and fight against the fear he had at that moment.

Despite being a very complex step, Contreras Fernández understood it and, despite his sensitivity and young age, assumed the novelty with maturity. “He is a child who is scared right now, but by talking to him and telling him how strong he is, he calms down,” revealed his sister Liliana Montier.

As the days passed, Ender began more examinations, care and attention tests for the start of a chemotherapy treatment that he was looking forward to. What he did not know was that this fundamental step for his recovery was going to cause traumatic injuries due to the record of an accident.

THE ACCIDENT

Around 11 am on Sunday, January 7, Ender Contreras left Valledupar in an ambulance-type plane bound for the Guaimaral airport, near Bogotá, to treat his illness, but a few minutes after taking off, the plane crashed near the airport. Alfonso López Pumarejo airport in Valledupar, apparently due to a mechanical failure.

The accident left one person dead and 5 injured, among them, the minor to whom God gave a new chance at life to continue battling his illness.

Miraculously, the little boy, who at the time of the events was in the company of his mother, is out of danger, but remains in the intensive care unit of the municipality’s Medical Clinic due to injuries caused by blows and trauma from the events.

“I’m afraid, I’m never going to forget what’s on my mind and I’m not going to be able to sleep at night because I remember the screams,” were the first words of the minor when he saw his sister Liliana Montier, who thanked God because His mother and brother are fine. “This is a miracle,” she said.

A CHILD WITH A LOT OF WANT TO LIVE

Ender Enrique Contreras Fernández is an 11-year-old boy who lives in the 16 de Julio invasion neighborhood in San Juan del Cesar, La Guajira. He is of Venezuelan nationality and when he was one year old he was brought to Colombia by his mother in search of better well-being and since then he has not returned to his homeland, the municipality of Concepción in Zulia.

The youngest birthday is on July 29, he lives with his parents and siblings aged 8, 10 and 21, he attends third grade at the José Eduardo Guerra Megacolegio in San Juan del Cesar and he likes to read, play and share with his friends.
