It is a ship with a colorful history: first a torpedo fishing boat in the Second World War, then a luxury yacht for the Cologne red-light giant “Schäfers Nas”. Four years ago, a couple bought the ship and registered their primary residence here. The company did not explain why the Duisburg Marina wanted to get rid of the boat now, either in the process or to WDR.

However, the owner couple expects the legal dispute to continue. “They definitely want us out of here,” says Birgit Steinich today. “The verdict is probably only a partial success.” Together with her husband Sascha Rösler, she discovered the Colorado 2020 while strolling through Duisburg’s inner harbor – with the “For Sale” sign.
Primary residence on the water
The two even received a landlord’s confirmation from the former marina operating company, which they could use to register their main residence on the water. The two of them gave up their apartment on land at that time. The municipal service company Octeo has now taken over the marina.
When asked by WDR, Octeo did not want to comment on the legal dispute. At the oral hearing in January 2024, Octeo lawyer Rainer Enzweiler stated that he did not have to give reasons for termination.
