Fernando Lugo López takes over as the new General Manager of AFD

As of this Monday, Fernando Lugo López took over as the new general manager of the Financial Development Agency (AFD).

The new General Manager has a Master’s degree in Stock Market and Financial Markets from the European Postgraduate Institute (IEP) of Madrid – Spain and a Bachelor’s degree in Administration from the National University of Asunción (UNA). He also has a Diploma in Senior Financial Management from the Vía ProDesarrollo Higher Institute and Specialization in Higher Education Didactics.

From 2013 to the present, he has served as Structuring and Money Desk Manager, Corporate Finance, Trading and Structuring Manager; He has also led Brokerage House projects in private banks in the country. He has also worked advising clients in the Corporate and Institutional segment on various financial products: CDAs, Bonds, Repos, Investment Funds, among others. He has also worked in advising companies for Stock and Over-the-Counter Issuances, as well as in identifying new business opportunities for several banks in the country.

By AFD Resolution No. 09 of Board Minutes No. 11 of February 21, 2024, he was appointed as General Manager of the AFD, as of March 1, 2024, thus joining the second-tier bank to contribute with its knowledge, experiences and skills, to the high economic and social impact of the institution.

About the AFD

About AFD It is the only Second Tier Public Bank that operates in the country, its purpose being to grant loans to complement the funding structure of first tier financial intermediation entities, in order to enable the execution of short-term programs, medium and long term through Intermediary Financial Institutions: banks, financial institutions and cooperatives that operate with the AFD.
