Ferriere Nord, historic agreement: the company integrates the cash register

Understood in Osoppo: even with the shock absorber there will be the result bonus. Abs, we’ll talk about it again on Monday

OSOPPO. Green light in Ferriere Nord to the ordinary layoffs requested by the company to manage the workers in force in the hot departments, steel mill and rolling mill, which in recent weeks have been working in fits and starts, held back by the surge in energy costs.

The shock absorber was activated, for 4 weeks starting from March 4, for 314 workers and 57 office workers, 371 workers in all, to whom the company will also recognize a supplement to the cash allowance.

As already happened at the Acciaierie di Verona, also in Osoppo the request made by the RSU and the provincial secretariats for the blue overalls was in fact accepted. “The company – says David Bassi (Fiom Cgil) – has agreed to integrate the shock absorber, effectively guaranteeing the payment of the performance bonus even on the days in which the workers had to stay at home”. Bassi again: «An economic integration was guaranteed, in case of use of the shock absorber, through the management of the supplementary contract, the full accrual of holiday accruals, permits, thirteenth and severance pay. Furthermore, the constraint of staying at work, until the end of the shift, was added in the event of production stoppages mainly due to energy costs “.

An important result from an economic point of view, but also of trade union relations as evidenced by Bassi himself in the note released yesterday following the signing.

«It was a particularly complex discussion, but in the end, after 2 weeks of discussion with the company management, we managed to find the right team – says Bassi, thanking the Rsu delegates for their commitment -. A team that has led, for the first time, to the equal management of this tool and its additions, for the Osoppo and Verona sites ».

Now the focus shifts to Abs, where yesterday the joint examination of the cash request – for a maximum of 1,248 workers, equal to the entire workforce – began but not finished. “We have not reached an agreement and therefore we have updated on Monday – reports Francesco Barbaro, secretary of Fim Cisl Udine – when the company will also notify us, in light of the situation linked to energy costs and orders, if with Friday the production will resume or if it will be necessary to continue with the shutdown of some departments. To date, workers in Abs are using previous holidays.

Alternatively, they can ask for the cash desk, which however pays only 500 euros per month, which is why – concludes Barbaro – here too we asked the company to integrate the shock absorber ».
