The agents of the police station of Forte dei Marmi stopped him in the company of a group of German pensioners, who had just got off the bus like any ordinary tourist. Instead he, Reinhard Doring Falkenberg, is accused of having been the jailer of at least three opponents of the Pinochet regime. For the Chilean authorities, in the 1970s he was one of the leaders of the “Colonia Dignidad”, an enclave of Nazis who fled Germany and took refuge not far from Santiago, used by the general’s secret police as a detention and torture center.
