According to the Peasant Association of Catatumbo (Ascamcat), the events occurred on the afternoon of April 22. A group of residents of the Carrizal village heard gunshots and then toured the area to make sure the entire community was okay.
The neighbors report that during the tour of the homes They realized that Torres Arévalo, who lived on the sidewalk, was not at home not even in the sector. The Community Action Board reported that he was in the Miraflores township buying rulas to work, but he did not return.
“Approximately 80 people from the community headed towards the Army checkpoint that has been present for several years in that village. The community immediately complained, arguing that the Army had the peasant ex-FARC-EP combatant, since he had left Miraflores at 5:00 pm and had not arrived at the sidewalk,” reported Ascamcat.
At the scene, they asked for explanations about the shots, as they feared that Dímar had been the reason for the detonations. Although the Army denied the accusations, the community decided to take over the uniformed facilities to verify that the ex-combatant was not detained.
“After 20 minutes of searching, the community noticed a hole, tools and a hat that were lying on the floor. Approximately five minutes from the place where they were making the hole, the community found the lifeless body of Torres Arévalo”, the association reported.
