As of 4 p.m. on the 16th, Zhejiang officials reported that in the past 24 hours, there were 50 new confirmed cases in Ningbo, Shaoxing, and Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province. Since December 5th, there have been a total of 342 confirmed cases reported by officials from the three places in Zhejiang, including 64 in Ningbo, 254 in Shaoxing, and 24 in Hangzhou. Except for 3 cases in Shaoxing in Yuecheng District, the others were all in Shangyu District.

As the CCP is used to covering up the epidemic, the actual number of infections in the three places in Zhejiang may be higher.

Zhejiang Province quarantined 620,000 people, the epidemic has not stopped

From the 7th to the 9th of this month, Zhenhai District of Ningbo City and Shangyu District of Shaoxing City have been “closed” one after another. According to the official, as of the afternoon of the 16th, the total number of people under quarantine control in Zhejiang Province reached 621,073, of which 67,673 were under centralized quarantine.

A staff member of a hotel in Cao’e Street, Shangyu Economic Development Zone, said on the 16th that the hotel has become a quarantine point. All medical personnel live in it. The hotel is fully isolated, and the staff of the hotel cannot go home. They were all requisitioned as quarantine hotels, some lived in close contacts, and some lived in medical staff.”

The hotel staff said that the residents of the entire Shangyu District are not allowed to go out and all stay at home.

Li Fang (pseudonym), the owner of the fruit plantation in Baiguan Street, Shangyu District, told reporters on the afternoon of the 16th, “The epidemic here is so severe and serious! We are all closed here and are not allowed to go out. I heard that Shangyu will be on March 15th. It’s been a long time without letting out the house!”

Li Fang said that at the fruit garden she runs, not only is outsiders not allowed to pick it, but it is not even allowed to ship. Seeing that the new year is coming, the fruit business may be going to be a waste. “At present, the fruit condition in the greenhouse is not bad. But during the New Year and Chinese New Year, it is estimated that it will not be sold. I don’t know what the situation is now!”

Shangyu District of Shaoxing Province has become the “severely hit area” of the national epidemic. According to the official notice, starting from the 15th, 5 locations including Chengnan Community and Hengli Community, Baiguan Street, Shangyu District, and Cao’e Street Revitalization Community, Yinhe Community, and Datong Supermarket (Shunjie Road Store) will be adjusted to high-risk areas, and there are 22 more Medium risk area.

Officials set up temporary quarantine points urgently

According to reports from mainland media, the Shangyu District urgently added 1,300 containers to be built into isolation points, which will accommodate 2,500 beds after reconstruction. Each room is independently set up, equipped with beds, washbasins, flush toilets, toiletries, bedding, etc., and will accommodate close personnel.

An owner next to the Shangyu Huatong Gymnasium stated that the authorities have built an isolation room on the periphery of the gymnasium, which is currently not built.

Li Fang, the owner of the fruit plantation, said that the isolation room next to the gymnasium has begun to accommodate close contacts. “There is currently no place for the quarantined personnel to live. They are all sent to the isolation room. Those who are in close contact are accepted. do not know either.”

The “Guyue Storage Battery” factory building located at Shunjiang West Road, Cao’e Street, Shangyu District, also has temporary isolation points, with 160 rooms in total.

A nearby resident told reporters that all shops near Cao’e Street were closed, and the streets and communities were all closed. “The storage battery factory has built a lot of isolation rooms and they are everywhere.”

When will the epidemic end?

This wave of epidemics is coming fiercely, with large numbers of people being transported to quarantine points in major epidemic areas every day. According to reports, at least 70 local cases in Shangyu were related to a fresh food supermarket, and some people were infected after sitting by the side of a small shop at the entrance of the village for a few minutes.

The officialdom has also been affected by the epidemic. Hu Hualiang, secretary of the Shangyu District Party Committee, who had been in office for four months, was removed and replaced by Tao Guanfeng, the deputy mayor of Zhejiang Province.

Affected by the lockdown measures, factories in Shaoxing, Ningbo, Cixi, Yuyao and other places have suspended work and production, and the flow of personnel and logistics of some weaving factories and printing and dyeing factories have been affected to varying degrees. Due to the uncertainty of the start of operations brought about by the epidemic, which affects the number of orders, some factories may have closed early.
