Gas leak from a pipe: four families from Udine remain in the cold

by admin

UDINE. Four families, in via Diaz, have been without gas and without heating, since Tuesday, due to a gas leak from a pipe in the street.

«On Tuesday – a resident said – a gas leak was reported at the beginning of a private road. The firefighters and Amga technicians intervened, making the plant safe. The supply of methane gas was interrupted.

We can’t use the stove, we don’t have hot water and we don’t have heating. In Udine there is an agreement between Amga and the Municipality, which dates back to 2006, according to which the competence of Amga reaches up to the valve of the road.

From that point on, maintenance is the responsibility of private individuals. We were told to find a firm to carry out the work, at our expense. It’s Christmas week and it won’t be easy. There are older people who live in the cold.

We talked to the municipality but there is nothing they can do. The Amga technicians confirm that that stretch is not their responsibility ». Acegas Aps Amga explains: «We are awaiting the communication of the intervention by the company or the professional in charge of fixing the fault because it is actually the responsibility of private individuals.

Amga works up to the valve and then, as far as private plants are concerned, the residents have to intervene ». In recent days there had also been a gas leak in via Noncello. About thirty families were left in the cold.

«On Tuesday – clarifies Acegas – we were informed that the professional had finished the surgery. Yesterday all the utilities were reactivated.

Three families were not at home and therefore we could not restore the service. We will do it as soon as they contact us. The gas cannot, in the absence of the customer, be reactivated ».
