“In this scene we don’t see the actors but we hear them talking”, says in the video Dea Kulumbegashvili, director of Beginning. “I wanted to create a moment in which the viewer can reflect on the couple dynamics of forgiveness, which we have all experienced at least once”.
The film tells of a relationship between two of Jehovah’s Witnesses, David and Yana. She is dissatisfied and feels the need for a radical change in her life, while he does not understand it and is focused only on religion. The burning of their place of worship and the police investigation will bring them to the brink of despair.
Dea Kulumbegashvili is a Georgian director and screenwriter. Beginning is his first feature film.
