He does not answer the phone, they find him lifeless: fatal illness for chef Marco Pividori. They mourn for it in Friuli and Veneto

NIMIS. The community of Nimis mourns the death of Marco Pividori, a native of the hamlet of Cloz, but living in Mestre for several years, in an apartment where he was found lifeless in recent days. He was 44 years old.

He was struck down by a sudden illness, as attested by the precautionary autopsy ordered by the Mestre Prosecutor’s Office, despite the fact that no sign of violence had been detected on the man’s body.

Qualified and appreciated “chef de rang”, one of the central figures of the so-called dining brigade, Pividori worked in the restaurant of the prestigious St. Regis hotel in Venice, where he distinguished himself for his skills.

The dramatic discovery of his death dates back to last Friday – the firefighters found the lifeless body, lying in the bathroom – but the death was traced back to a few days earlier: the alarm was raised, worried by numerous empty phone calls, he had been a family member, while in the hotel no one had been too worried about the absence as it was at least in part coincided with a couple of days of rest.

Known and esteemed in the working environment, thanks to the experience gained in over twenty years of service, Pividori had been missing from his hometown for a long time, so much so that at the time of the publication of the obituaries in Nimis, few immediately connected the his name to that of Alberto Pividori, his father, who lives in the hamlet of Cloz.

In the same town is the Da Basan farmhouse, managed by a cousin of Marco, Massimo Pividori, among other things a well-known name on the regional music scene and not only for his great skills as an accordionist.

The family picture was soon rebuilt, generating feelings of strong emotion and heartfelt closeness to Marco’s parent and brother, Stefano, who also resides elsewhere.

And it will be in Nimis, in the cathedral, that on Wednesday 28 July, at 5 pm, the funeral of the 44-year-old will be celebrated, whose body will arrive from the Mansutti funeral home in Udine, where the coffin will be exposed from 12.30.

Sorrow and share the words of the mayor Gloria Bressani: «We can only mourn this young broken life. An established professional has left, who probably would still have had a lot of satisfaction and who, with his commitment, the fruit of passion and ability, in some way represented our Municipality even outside Friuli Venezia Giulia ».

“On behalf of the municipal administration and the entire population of Nimis – concludes the mayor – I express closeness to the family: we join in their pain”.

In Veneto, there were many statements of condolence, starting with those of colleagues from St. Regis and Filcams CGIL, a union to which Marco Pividori – remembered as a cheerful, affable and generous person – had been a member for some time. –
