Hengshan County Launches Spring Festival Couplets Art “Hundreds and Thousands” Everbright Project and Mass Cultural Activities to Welcome the New Year
“It’s a lively day today! I received two Spring Festival couplets and watched a wonderful program. I’m so happy!” Grandma Nie, who lives in Song’ao Village, Yonghe Township, Hengshan County, laughed from ear to ear. On January 26, Hengshan County launched the “Hundreds and Thousands” Everbright Project of Spring Festival Couplets and mass cultural activities to welcome the New Year.
The “Hundreds and Thousands” Everbright Project of Spring Couplets Art is a concrete practice of the Hunan Federation of Literary and Art Circles to study and implement Xi Jinping’s cultural thoughts, and the literary and art circles in Hengshan County responded positively. On that day, at the cultural square of Song’ao Village, Yonghe Township, Hengshan County, more than a dozen calligraphers were in high spirits. After asking the villagers to order according to the “Spring Festival Couplets”, they splashed ink on red paper and showed off their skills to write exquisite Spring Festival couplets one after another, a piece of auspicious and wishful blessing words was sent to the villagers for free.
A red carpet, three stoves and ten long benches were laid out next to the “Spring Festival Couplets Exhibition”. The villagers could watch the “Village Gala” while receiving Spring Festival couplets. The “Village Evening” program was dazzling, including lion singing, dance, cucurbit silk, sketches, flower drum opera, etc., which not only allowed everyone to appreciate the traditional Spring Festival couplets art, but also feel the traditional lion singing culture and folk music culture. “This cultural activity is full of new year’s flavor, everyone is smiling, and it is very meaningful. We will hold more in the future,” Liu Hongzhang, secretary of the Song’ao Village branch, said.
It is reported that this event was guided by the Propaganda Department of the Hengshan County Committee of the Communist Party of China, sponsored by the Hengshan County Federation of Literary and Art Circles and the Yonghe Township People’s Government, and co-organized by the Hengshan County Calligraphers Association, Song’ao Village Village Committee, and Hunan Yuxian Culture Co., Ltd. According to statistics, there were nearly 20 performances on that day, and thousands of Spring Festival couplets and blessing words were given out, which truly provided a “cultural feast” to the masses.
