ABOVE FURNACES. The man – a Fornese – who was injured on the afternoon of Sunday 31 October while making firewood in the woods not far from a forest road located downstream of Malga Tragonia was rescued.
The man was hit in the head by an already half-knocked-down trunk (by storm Vaia) that he was cutting: the trunk bounced back and hit him.
The person who was with him, a family member who was helping him, called for help.
The Forni di Sopra Alpine and Speleological Rescue station was sent to the site with three technicians who accompanied the 118 ambulance health workers with the off-road vehicle along the forest track where the location of the accident had been identified.
The injured person was on the forest road was stabilized and then delivered to the ambulance bound for Tolmezzo.
