A quick smile – Golden Retriever Jamie gives dying people a valuable moment of lightness through his mere presence. He is a visiting dog at the Leonberg hospice. How an animal can help in the time before death.
When Jamie enters her room at the Leonberg inpatient hospice, it puts a smile on Ingrid Langenkamp’s face. The Golden Retriever puts his front paws on her bed and lets herself be fed sausages. Not only Langenkamp, Jamie is also happy about the visit. “When we come to the hospice, he always wants to go straight into your room,” says dog owner Katrin Granz with a smile. Jamie is the hospice’s visiting and support dog. He comes to the guests once a week and brings some lightness to the difficult time before death.
