According to the dpa news agency, the large-scale operation in downtown Karlsruhe is still ongoing (as of 7:15 p.m.). Because of the unclear risk situation, the area around the Pharmacy cordoned off, the police said. Residents from the area should – if possible – retire to a nearby school building. According to the dpa, the police contacted the hostage-takers. However, no information can be given on the number of hostages or perpetrators, said a police spokesman.
