“Hot” areas of Loja are “the target” of the Police – DIARIO CRONICA

Operations carried out by police personnel.

During the state of exception, the National Police of the Loja Subzone, in collaboration with its information analysis department, has identified critical points in the city of Loja, which generate fear among citizens; These sectors are: La Pileta, the Las Palmeras viewpoint, Santa María street, 24 de Mayo and Zoilo Rodríguez, El Churo viewpoint, El Valle, exterior of the Federativo Stadium, Simón Bolívar park, shopping center, wholesale market and the IV Centenario, especially Ramón Pinto Street.

Although they have prioritized these places as the most urgent, there are also the so-called “critical nodes” —such as Tierras Coloradas, Obrapía, Sauces Norte and La Argelia—, where the incidence of crime is equally high, exacerbating citizens’ fear.

According to Fabricio Calderón, head of the Loja district of the National Police, the identification of these critical places is based on a comprehensive control panel where crimes such as robberies of people, homes, accessories, vehicles and motorcycles are found, as well as the consumption of substances subject to control, which is why it expresses that the data collected allows them to direct investigative and control operations towards said sectors.

Furthermore, it points out that these places have been the subject of permanent interventions through inter-institutional anti-crime operations, since they have also had the participation of the Police Station and the Police Department. Added to this are the Arms, Ammunition and Explosives Control (CAMEX) operations, with the aim of increasing the perception of security in the population.

The officer also indicates that, despite the culmination of the state of emergency, these operations will continue to be carried out permanently and, adapting to the incidence of crime and the georeferencing of crime. Likewise, he reveals that, although crimes occur at any time of the day, they tend to be concentrated during weekends and, with a lower incidence, on Wednesdays. (YO)
