Huila fish producers, prepared for Holy Week

With the arrival of Holy Week, one of the most important celebrations for Colombians, fish producers in the department of Huila are preparing to satisfy the national demand for fish, offering a quality product and complying with the strictest health standards.

Huila, known as a leader in fish production nationwide, is preparing to meet the most significant demand of the year in terms of fish consumption. According to estimates from the Ministry of Agriculture, Colombian households are expected to consume around 47,000 tons of fish during Holy Week, and Huila producers are ready to supply this market.

Despite the challenges faced by fish farming in Huila due to factors such as climate variability and the presence of the Streptococcus Agalactiae bacteria, producers have worked tirelessly together with the Government of Huila and other regional and national institutions to guarantee the production of a safe and high-quality product.

Edison Javier Henao Palacios, technical secretary of the Huila fish farming chain, assures that everything is ready to meet demand during this important season. “The processing rooms are operating at full capacity, and producers are offering the best of their harvests to guarantee a safe product that Colombian families can consume without worries,” says Henao Palacios.
