SYRACUSE Eighteen people under investigation, 60 reported and 5 horse races identified as part of the investigation by the Syracuse Public Prosecutor’s Office on clandestine horse races in the southern area of the Syracusan province.
The operation called “Marengo” by the Carabinieri of Noto, coordinated by the deputy prosecutor Fabio Scavone and by the substitute Gaetano Bono, made it possible to collect numerous videos of the clandestine races on the web. One of these had been interrupted: 60 people identified, mainly young people, reported to the Prosecutor’s Office. Yesterday, the military of Nas and the heliported squadron “Sicily hunters” carried out 18 search decrees against as many suspects believed to be the main organizers of the races in homes, stables and stables in Avola, Noto and Rosolini.
Numerous abused horses were found, various doping drugs seized.
