The 2024 Spring Festival Transport Work Class reported an increase in cross-regional personnel movements during the Spring Festival holiday. On February 13, which marked the 19th day of the Spring Festival Transport and the fourth day of the first lunar month, the number of individuals traveling across regions in the entire society reached approximately 301.39 million. This represented an 18.2% increase compared to the same period in 2023, marking the first time that over 300 million people moved across regions in a single day during the Spring Festival travel season.

The report specified that railway passenger volume totaled 12.927 million, a 50.5% increase from the previous year, while waterway passenger volume reached 1.378 million, showing a 52.4% increase. Furthermore, civil aviation passenger volume saw a substantial increase of 57.4%, totaling 2.293 million.

Additionally, the number of highway personnel movements reached 284.79 million, marking a 16.7% increase from the previous year. Non-commercial passenger car trips on expressways and ordinary national and provincial highways accounted for 261.85 million, reflecting a 16.8% increase, while highway commercial passenger volume reached 22.94 million, showing a 15.5% increase compared to the same period in 2023.

These significant increases in travel and movement across various transportation modes demonstrate the bustling nature of the Spring Festival travel season in 2024. The surge in cross-regional movements reflects the enthusiasm of individuals to reunite with their loved ones and celebrate the holiday, despite the challenges posed by the ongoing pandemic.
