After celebrating 12 years since its opening and positioning itself as one of the main shopping centers in commune 10, Gran Plaza today reaches 100% occupancy of its commercial premises, with more than 150 brands in categories such as jewelry, accessories, makeup, beauty and skin care, as well as banking services, fashion, cafes and a varied gastronomic offer.

We spoke with Janeth Zuleta, its manager, to find out where this shopping center, which has an average of seven million visitors per year, is going.

Gran Plaza has a new address as the “shopping center in the heart of Medellín”. what does that mean start?

“Talking about the Gran Plaza Shopping Center is alluding to the tradition, history and economy of the hollow sector, which is why our efforts always evoke the value, contribution and love that all the people of the country, especially the merchants, feel for this oasis. In the city center. Uniting these feelings, articulated with a creative and responsible work led from the shopping center, we arrive at a statement that represents us ideally: ‘Gran Plaza, In the Heart of Medellín’. The launch of this brand structure will be made official this April, although we have already implemented media campaigns that have allowed us to generate expectations of what it means, emotionally and commercially, to talk about the Heart of Medellín.”

*What plans does the shopping center have in the near future?

“The projection of Gran Plaza as an ideal place for shopping, meetings, gastronomy, security and comfort will continue to be consolidated as a main objective, adding a component of experiences and stays for visitors, hoping to generate spaces of comfort and enjoyment for a public that wants to find spaces green, quiet and sharing in the heart of Medellín.

How is the Guayaquil sector today in terms of security, public space and other issues that affect the reputation of the center?

“The coordinated work with the different public and private institutions of the sector and the city has allowed us to generate joint strategies to intervene in public health and coexistence problems that affect the environment.

Different meetings have been generated with the Undersecretary of Public Space, supported by Fenalco Antioquia, Asoguayaquil, the National Police and Corpocentro, achieving actions such as interventions in the sector to improve cleanliness, infrastructure, boarding and services for homeless inhabitants, in addition to important security work to guarantee a safer and more enjoyable visit for all those who live and enjoy the Heart of Medellín.”
