Unusual Incident Causes Panic Among JetBlue Passengers at JFK Airport

Queens, New York – Passengers aboard a JetBlue flight experienced a terrifying ordeal upon landing at the JFK airport on Sunday night. The American low-cost airline’s plane, Flight 662, had just arrived from Barbados when it suddenly tilted backwards, causing panic among those onboard.

The incident occurred around 8:30 pm as passengers were preparing to disembark the aircraft after their journey from Bridgetown. One passenger, Sinead Bovell, managed to record the unusual event and shared her “terrifying” experience with the public. She described how the crew urgently called for collaboration from passengers to “strategically rebalance the plane.”

“As more than half of the passengers were leaving the plane, or perhaps a little more, the aircraft abruptly pitched back with such rapidity and intensity that the tail hit the jet bridge and part of the plane’s door broke,” Bovell recounted.

Bovell further revealed that she overheard chatter on the crew’s radio transmitters indicating that the front of the aircraft was aimed approximately three meters up in the air. In the video captured by Bovell, a crew member can be heard instructing concerned passengers to slowly move towards the center of the plane due to the tilting motion.

Following the crew’s instructions, Bovell moved to the front of the plane, while other passengers were asked to help “strategically rebalance” the aircraft. The entire situation left passengers unnerved and cautious.

“We all panicked and said, ‘Wait until we get down.’ We had to strategically exit the plane two rows at a time and then take a break,” Bovell explained.

Fortunately, no one was exiting the plane at the moment it tilted back, averting a potential disaster. Bovell expressed gratitude for everyone’s safety during the incident.

JetBlue issued a statement confirming that the Airbus A321 plane involved in the incident is now out of service for inspection. Safety is the airline’s top priority, and they are conducting a thorough review of the incident.

“JetBlue officials reported on Monday that there were no injuries and that the situation occurred due to a change in weight and balance during disembarkation,” the statement read.

Passengers are relieved that there were no injuries and are hopeful that JetBlue will address the issue swiftly to prevent any future incidents. The airline is known for its commitment to safety and, with this incident, it will undoubtedly take steps to further enhance its protocols.

As investigations continue, passengers are advised to stay updated with official statements and adhere to safety guidelines while traveling.
