John Poulos pleads not guilty in Valentina Trespalacios case

From the La Picota extradition pavilion, John Poulos gave an interview to Semana. The American is accused of having murdered the young Colombian DJ Valentina Trespalacios, whose body was found in a suitcase.

The man spoke, in general, about what his relationship with Valentina was like. He noted that he was in love with her and that, despite “having different lives,” her relationship with her victim had been affectionate and close.

Poulos says he remembers absolutely nothing, possibly as a result of the consumption of tequila and psychoactive substances.

Among other things, he says that his capture was illegal and that Valentina’s family’s version has been lying. He is emphatic that her rights have been violated in Colombia.

The reality is that all the evidence is in my favor. The thing is that my version of the story that really happened has not been revealed to Colombia or the world, but soon everyone will see that I am the only person who tells the truth and I have all the evidence to prove it.

He concluded by saying that “since the Colombian State does not allow me to present evidence, I give permission to my lawyer, giving him access to all my digital files that will help my freedom and I authorize him to publish them when necessary so that Colombia and the world can see that I must go free, I am innocent and all this evidence plus my testimony will help me achieve it.”
