Beijing Admits Rising CCP Virus Epidemic Post Chinese New Year Holiday
Beijing, China – The Chinese New Year holiday has just ended, but officials in Beijing have admitted that the CCP virus (new coronavirus) epidemic is on the rise once again. According to reports from the Beijing Center for Disease Control and Prevention, both influenza and the new coronavirus are currently circulating in the city, with the new coronavirus infection rate rapidly increasing.
On February 22, officials announced that respiratory infectious diseases in Beijing are co-epidemic with influenza and COVID-19. While influenza has shown a slight downward trend, the COVID-19 epidemic continues to escalate. The COVID-19 positivity rate in sentinel hospitals in the past week has reached 21.1%, with the JN.1 variant identified as the main epidemic strain.
Comparing data from February 1, where the COVID-19 positivity rate was 6.4%, to the current rate of 21.1% on February 22, it is evident that the situation is worsening. As many people return to Beijing to resume work post-holiday and schools prepare to reopen, the risk of transmission in densely populated areas like schools and nursing homes is increasing.
Officials are urging individuals to monitor their health, stay home if they experience symptoms such as fever and cough, and avoid public places and group activities. They are also recommending elderly individuals to get vaccinated against the new coronavirus to protect themselves.
The news of the rising epidemic has sparked concerns and discussions among netizens, with many expressing worries about the upcoming school reopening and the potential for rapid spread among students and teachers. Reports of increased cases and symptoms like fever and sore throat have been circulating on social media, prompting individuals to be cautious and vigilant.
Respiratory Critical Care Doctor Hua shared his experience of being overwhelmed with patients visiting the outpatient clinic post-holiday, emphasizing the need for continued vigilance and precautions. As the situation continues to evolve, it is crucial for individuals to follow health guidelines and take necessary measures to prevent further spread of the virus.
