Justice, a day of strike by the magistrates against the Cartabia reform

With 1,081 votes in favor, 169 against and 13 abstentions, the National Assembly of the ANM approved a strike day by the Italian magistrates against the Cartabia reform of the judiciary, approved in the Chamber and now being examined by the Senate. The possibility of further forms of protest is also foreseen if there are no openings.

Anm: we are forced to strike to be heard

In one of the central passages of the unitary and collective motion voted by the national assembly of the National Association of Magistrates which provides for a day of abstention from work and any other forms of protest if “the critical issues will not be eliminated” we read: “We do not strike to protest , but to be heard, we do not strike against the reforms, but to make people understand, from our point of view, what reforms the country really needs. For this idea of a country we find ourselves forced to strike, for this idea of the judiciary, which is not only ours, but is the one contained in our splendid Constitution ».

Santalucia: reform must be corrected, there is still time

The strike of the magistrates “will be a way to communicate the reasons for the dissent, not a way to protest against a law in progress,” said the president of the ANM, Giuseppe Santalucia. “We cannot think that the discussion is over – continues Santalucia – we want the reform, it is just a matter of correcting some structures. We will work towards this and we ask the Senate to reflect on some aspects. We hope there is still time and we are working hard for this ».
