Panic at Dolphin Mall: Police Respond to Reports of Active Shooter
Dozens of police and rescue teams rushed to the Dolphin Mall in northwest Miami-Dade County on Sunday following reports of an active shooter, causing moments of panic among shoppers.
Miami-Dade police, along with the Technical Rescue Team, were called to assist Sweetwater police after possible shots fired were reported at the popular shopping center.
After a thorough inspection of the mall and a review of surveillance footage, authorities found no evidence of an active shooter and declared the Dolphin Mall to be safe.
Sweetwater police had initially denied the reports of an active shooter at the mall, and Mayor José “Pepe” Díaz took to social media to confirm that no evidence had been found to support the claims of shots fired.
A video posted on Instagram captured the chaotic scene as dozens of people fled the mall in fear.
This is a developing story, and further details are expected to emerge as the investigation continues.
