[NTD, Beijing time, March 12, 2022]Just after the conclusion of the two sessions of the Communist Party of China, the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection of the Communist Party of China announced on the morning of the 12th that Liu Yanping, the former head of the Disciplinary Inspection and Supervision Team of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection in the Ministry of State Security, was investigated. Liu Yanping has served in the CCP’s public security system for a long time and served as the deputy minister of the Ministry of Public Security.

At 9 a.m. on March 12, the official website of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection announced that Liu Yanping, the former head of the Disciplinary Inspection and Supervision Team of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection of the State Supervision Commission in the Ministry of State Security, was “suspected of serious violations of discipline and law” and is currently under investigation.

According to public information, Liu Yanping was born in August 1955, from Fengnan, Hebei, and started working in April 1974.

Liu Yanping has worked in the CCP’s public security system for a long time. In August 2011, he was promoted to Assistant Minister of the Ministry of Public Security and a member of the Party Committee. In June 2013, he was appointed as the Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Public Security. In May 2015, Liu Yanping served as secretary of the Disciplinary Committee of the Ministry of National Security, and later served as the head of the Disciplinary Inspection and Supervision Team of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Supervisory Commission in the Ministry of National Security.

Liu Yanping is the fourth deputy minister of the Ministry of Public Security to be sacked since the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China after Meng Hongwei, Sun Lijun and Fu Zhenghua. Moreover, Liu Yanping was accused of having a close relationship with Sun Lijun.

Exiled Chinese billionaire Guo Wengui disclosed in May 2017 that Liu Yanping, then secretary of the Disciplinary Committee of the Ministry of State Security, and Sun Lijun, then deputy minister of the Ministry of Public Security and director of the First Bureau (Domestic Security Bureau), went to the United States to lobby Guo Wengui to stop He broke the news about the CCP scandal and lured Guo Wengui to return to China, but the negotiation failed in the end.

Current political commentator Yue Shan previously wrote an analysis in The Epoch Times that Liu Yanping and Sun Lijun went to the United States to meet Guo Wengui, which roughly conformed to the ironclad rule of the CCP officialdom that they “who visited prostitutes together and carried guns together”.

Sun Lijun, the former deputy minister of the Ministry of Public Security, was sacked in April 2020, and he was “double-opened” by September 2021. Officials reported that Sun Lijun had “extremely inflated political ambitions”, “ganged up to control key departments”, and “seriously endangered political security.”

On January 24, 2022, the Ministry of Public Security announced the establishment of a special group to “clean up the poisoning of Sun Lijun’s political gang”.
