The 2024 National Reading Theme Promotion Campaign in Jiangsu Province kicks off in Wuxi

April is known as the most beautiful day in the world, and the fragrance of books can transport you to distant lands. On April 21, the 2024 National Reading Theme Promotion in Jiangsu Province and the launching event of Wuxi’s 17th Taihu Reading Month were held at the Wuxi International Conference Center.

The 2024 Jiangsu Provincial National Reading Theme Promotion Campaign has the theme of “Love Reading, Read Good Books, and Read Good Books”. It will hold 139 key activities such as theme reading, key group reading, and classified reading promotion, with the goal of providing readers with broad coverage, precise, and high-quality reading services to further expand the construction of “Bookish Jiangsu.”

The comprehensive reading rate of residents in Jiangsu has reached an impressive 90.34%, showcasing the province’s love for books. From rural campuses to urban street reading spaces, the scent of books fills the air in Jiangsu, reflecting the province’s dedication to promoting reading among all residents.

Various reading promotion activities have flourished in Jiangsu, enriching the people’s reading experiences. The provincial leading group for national reading activities recommends 12 good books to readers each year, covering a wide range of categories to suit different ages and interests.

While digital reading has gained popularity, traditional paper reading still holds a significant place among residents. However, “online reading” has become the main way for residents to read, with 71.55% of respondents opting for digital formats. The province continues to host a wide range of activities such as the Second Jiangsu University Phoenix Reading Festival, emphasizing the importance of reading in society.

The 17th Taihu Reading Month in Wuxi City was also launched simultaneously, with over 2,500 reading activities planned. Wuxi has been committed to promoting reading for all residents, with a focus on the “Taihu Reading Month” activity, which has attracted millions of participants both online and offline.

Overall, Jiangsu’s efforts in promoting reading have yielded positive results, with residents showing a growing interest in reading. The province continues to innovate and expand its reading promotion activities, creating a strong reading culture that resonates with people of all ages.
