Lubero: 10 displaced people die in two weeks following their poor living conditions in Kanyabayonga

Ten displaced people died in the space of two weeks in the rural commune of Kanyabayonga, in the territory of Lubero (North Kivu), announced Monday March 25, the mayor of this municipality, Chrysostome Kasereka Fatiri. These displaced people died as a result of the poor conditions in which they lived.

The mayor affirms that the last two deaths were of a woman in her sixties and a man. These deaths date back to last Sunday and Monday.

According to Chrysostome Kasereka Fatiri, some of these displaced people die of hunger, and others from lack of medical care.

Around thirty thousand displaced households who fled Rutshuru because of the fighting between the FARDC and the M23 rebels live in difficult conditions in Kanyabayonga. The mayor of this rural commune is pleading for emergency humanitarian assistance.
