On Friday night, the homicide of a 47-year-old man was recorded in the La Guafilla sector in Yopal. Neighbors in the area alerted the situation because several shots were heard.

The urgent actions were carried out by criminalistics experts who preliminarily detailed that the body had 8 wounds caused by a firearm.

The murdered man was identified as Wilfredo Bernal Bernal, a native of Recetor, who according to the police report, had seven entries in the Oral Accusatory Criminal System, for crimes such as conspiracy to commit a crime, simple kidnapping, conspiracy to commit aggravated crimes to finance terrorism, conspiracy to aggravated crime for committing terrorism, conspiracy to commit aggravated crime, disruption in collective and official transportation service and rebellion.

Police authorities indicated that he had been released from prison in 2017, after serving a sentence for the crime of rebellion and conspiracy to commit a crime, as he would have belonged to the ELN (José David Suarez Front). Apparently once he regained his freedom he was approached and required by that group outside the law to rejoin or else he would be a military target.

The crime is the subject of investigation by the authorities.
