The man is accused of entering a restaurant on Mühlstrasse in downtown Tübingen on Sunday, April 7th, around 1:30 p.m., despite an existing ban on entering the premises, in order to steal alcoholic drinks from a freely accessible refrigerator. He is said to have hit an employee present who tried to stop him in the face. The employee was slightly injured as a result. The 56-year-old is also said to have insulted the employee several times. The suspect was able to be temporarily arrested by the police officers who arrived on site without any resistance.
The man, who was already known to the police, was brought before the responsible judge at the Tübingen district court on Monday afternoon, April 8th. He issued the arrest warrant requested by the Tübingen public prosecutor and executed it. The man was taken to a correctional facility.
