The Minister: “we are strongly committed to identifying a solution for the future of the plant”

The crisis table on the situation of the industry was held today at the Ministry of Business and Made in Italy FOS of the Prysmian Groupwhich has expressed its intention to no longer produce optical fiber at the Battipaglia site.

The meeting was chaired by Minister Adolfo Ursus together with the Undersecretary of State with responsibility for business crises, Fausta Bergamot. Present were the top management of the company, the president of the Campania Region, Vincenzo By Lucaand the union representatives of the production site.

We are strongly committed to identifying a solution for the future of the production plant, safeguarding an activity of very high strategic value which we do not intend to give up. We will continue discussions with all the players so that this company, with its high technological heritage, can continue to compete on a global level”, stated Minister Urso.

Given the Group’s unavailability to continue production at the Battipaglia site, Mimit had already taken action to monitor the possible interest of other industrial entities interested in taking over from Prysmian. At the moment there are three active discussions for the relaunch of the site, two foreign companies and one national, active in the sector of optic fiber.

At the end of a broad discussion, Undersecretary Bergamotto asked the company for three weeks to carry out in-depth checks in this regard. The company has said it is willing to wait before starting the closure procedure and confirms its commitment to facilitating the entry of a new entity into the site under favorable conditions and terms.
